History of The Daily Spittoon

Nothing is quite certain about who discovered the town of Stinky Creek, but legend says that an old pioneer, making his way west to escape from some trouble he left behind on the East Coast, stopped at the most beautiful place he had ever seen, and set up camp.

That old pioneer must have been part Viking because the first thing he did was give his land a name that would keep others from wanting to live there -- thus, Stinky Creek was born. But, alas, people DID come, and a town soon grew up around the old pioneer.

Being a mean old cuss, the pioneer took to writing things down on scrap paper -- mostly hateful, gossipy things about the new townsfolk -- and nailing the paper to a post in the center of the town. Of course everybody read it. If the gossipy things were about someone that nobody liked, the readers would spit on the paper but leave it where it was. But if the gossipy things were about someone that was respected and thought highly of, then the readers would spit on it and tear it down.

Thus was born The Daily Spittoon.

The paper has passed through many hands throughout the years. Some good hands, some not so good hands. But all in all it has held true to the philosophy of "telling things like they is.

"Nothing much is known about the current editor and chief other than he took the paper off of the spitting post and dragged it into the electronic age.Spitting is still allowed, but you have to clean off your own screen.
